Took a social day

Halfway through the residency now, so the small group of us headed down to the local Saturday Market this morning. A mix of crafts, plants and locally grown and roasted coffee. Cutest thing I saw was a table of felted wool hats with mannequin heads modeling the hats and scarves. Check out the head with the blue scarf...

It was a very small event so afterwards I walked up to town to visit the Geronimo Historical Museum. Sweet little museum with Indian artifacts and history from the area including the famous Geronimo and The Apache Kid. There is also a public art sculpture area outside, all about the hot springs.

Tonight we BBQ'd squash, corn and onions and feasted on a potluck of shared appetizers. We talked about our work, our lives, books, art.... A mellow relaxing day and night, perfect for the first day of the long Memorial Weekend.

I think I'll avoid the lake since all of New Mexico will surely be there!!
